Check out these homemade dog treats for summer/the hot months.

My Version of Frosty Paws

Ingredients:

4 cups yogurt (I use Greek but flavored or plain, non-fat)

½ cup peanut butter

1 tablespoon honey

1 ripe banana

½ cup blueberries

Ingredients

Place all of the ingredients into a blender, mixer or food processor and mix well (until smooth)

Pour into ice cube trays or Popsicle trays or cupcake tins

Freeze until firm. I make extra to last awhile.

Pop out of container and place in a freezer container

Let your dog enjoy this frozen treat!

BBQ Ice Cubes

Got some leftover hamburger juice, chicken broth or fish juice from dinner? Fill an ice cube tray with the liquid and stick it in the freezer. Drop a few cubes in an empty dish on hot day for your furry animal (cat or dog).

Frozen Blueberries

Blueberries are not only tasty, but they’re also a superfood for people and pets. As antioxidants, this summer fruit protects the body from cell-damaging free radicals. Keeping them in the freezer offers a nice cool-down treat on a hot day. You can also try blueberry popsicles or blueberry ice cubes. All you need is water and the right container.

Sundried Sweet Potatoes

The sun is the perfect (and cheapest) tool for drying out vegetables like carrots, broccoli, and the all-time canine favorite: sweet potatoes. These tasty delights are jam-packed with nutrition. You can buy fresh veggies in bulk, cut them into thin slices and arrange them on a wire tray in the sun to dry, rotating and flipping as needed. You can also dehydrate them and then freeze.
